OOC - Pupdate Sep. 3rd, 2005 @ 09:36 pm

Okay, I'm going to renew Mary's journal. With minor changes though.

Firstly, I wrote a post-movie version - or rather an alternative movie version, in which Mary did not die. This will change from now. In the new version, Mary hasn't been arrested yet. She's a sense offender and knows of Partridge's death, but she is unaware of the fact that it was Preston himself who has killed Partridge. As for Preston, she knows of him - Partridge did mention his partner to Mary.

As for her previous rp-state, I'm not going to deny that. So, Mary still knows Terry Sheridan [info]tr2_sheridan, Alec Trevelyan [info]janus_tm and also André Marek [info]a_marek_tm.

The only difference that the Rome-line we started with Marek!mun will be considered as AU, given I'm not sure that we could ever finish that SL.

I hope it makes sense.

The meaning of trust (TM challenge) May. 7th, 2005 @ 08:25 pm
“Libria, I congratulate you. At last peace reigns in the heart of man. At last war is but a word whose meaning fades from our understanding. At last, we are whole.”

The deep, seducing voice of Father infiltrated into the room. Mary O’Brian was sitting at her desk. There was an old fashioned stylus in her hand; she dipped it into the black ink and with tiny, square letters, she wrote a word down:

TRUST

“Librians, there is a disease in the heart of man. It's symptom is hate. It's symptom is anger. It's symptom is rage. It's symptom is war. The disease is human emotion.”

Years ago, before she ceased taking the Prozium, Mary trusted Father. She has believed his words, the Manifest Doctrines. She has believed that that was the only way, which could save the humankind from destroying themselves.

“But Libria, I congratulate you, for there is a cure for this disease. At the cost of the dizzying highs of human emotion, we have suppressed its abysmal lows. And you, as a society, have embraced this cure. Prozium.”

But now, she knew that was a lie. With a fiery movement, she crossed out the word.

TRUST

Mary dipped her stylus into the red ink and wrote down again, with big, ornamented letters:

TRUST

TRUST

Mary joined the resistance because she trusted them. She trusted Jurgen, Partridge, and those Sense Offenders she knew.

“Now we are at peace with ourselves and human kind is one. War is gone. Hate, a memory. We are our own conscience now, and it is this conscience that guides us to rate EC-10, for emotional content, all those things that might tempt us to feel, again, and destroy them.”

And what’s more important, she trusted her own feelings. She trusted herself. She was not a leader as Jurgen was, or a fighter like Partridge. But that was not matter.
She was the seed, she was the soil, the sun, the very water...

“Librians, you have won. Against all odds, and your own natures. You, have, survived."

Hearing Father’s voice, Mary smiled to herself. Yes. Against all odds, the Resistance will have survived.

» What is the scariest thing that has ever happened to you?
My combustion, I guess. The price the Sense Offenders pay for being human for a transitory life... for breaking the Manifest Doctrines and feel... sleep... dream.

So, it was during the Processing... when I felt most scared ever.
I was standing in the furnace, watching the operators closing the door. Preston has arrived, running, but he was late. The door was already locked. I just stood there unable to move, or even blink, waiting the flames. But they did not come. I heard footsteps instead.
A man approached, named Dupont, the vice council of Libria. The bargain he offered was quite simple. He let me alive if I pleased him...

I am alive.

End of story.

OOC: Okay, this is not supposed to be a poem. Just some daily ramblings.

Love?

I do not know what is it, but it is good.
Day-dreaming on your words,
Like shining clouds on twilight sky,
And glimmering stars behind.

I do not know what is it, but it is sweet.
Your gaze is looking for me,
Like sunshine, flashing on roofs,
While the day is drawing in.

I do not know what is it, but I feel
It made my life brighten.
The silk of your words touch my heart,
Like spring breeze caress the graves.

I do not know what is it, but it is good.
It is hurt, but oh so sweet!
If silliness, if mistake, so be it.
If love, forgive me this.

» Questions from theothermary
Meme thing... you know how it goes.

1) Where is Libria? *giggle*
Libria is in the future. After the Third World War, this city is the only place where the human kind is still able to exist. The rest of the Earth is poisoned by radioactivity and chemicals.

2) Do you like being named Mary?
Yes. I liked Partridge’s voice when he whispered my name...
Though we should found a club for the TM-Maries... *smiles*

3) What is your favorite book?
Oh... *looks confused* ...my favorite is the “Irish Fairy Tales” by W. B. Yeats. But this book is not allowed to read in Libria, you know. I would be arrested if it turns out.

4) Do you believe in God?
No. I believe in Humanity.

5) What was your first kiss like?
I can’t tell you exactly. It had happened before I ceased taking the Prozium... the drug which suppresses all human emotions and feelings... so I did not feel anything.
But the most remarkable kiss I got tasted like almond... smelled like sea... felt like secrets, like things far away. It made me shiver, it made me burn... *sighs* it made me run away.

She’d be me... the person I was before ceasing the Prozium. Grey... faceless... an empty shell, who was unable to feel. Just a faceless puppet of the crowd, the so called “Perfect Society”... Librians... people lost everything which draw distinction between a human being and a talking monkey.
Feelings... hate... rage... jealousy... anger... but also love, faith, tenderness and confidence... everything had traded away. And for what reason? For the sake of the vague conception of the Manifest Doctrine... to suppress what they think the reason of the Man’s inhumanity to Man... the ability to feel.

Or he’d be the person I can’t think of without pity: Cleric John Preston. The man, who is also able to feel, but he uses it to improve his skills in killing. The saviour of the City... and the murderer of Errol Partridge.
» Do you consider yourself to be adventurous?
Reading the subject, Mary chuckles softly.

“Oh yes, I am definitely is.”

She knows that there are lot of people around consider themselves to be adventurous and restless. Warriors, wanderers, wizards and other creatures... and she has a good laugh at them. Those people think that the adventure is about to do something big or extraordinary.
But Mary knows better.

There is only one adventure, which is as vital as breath. And it is the life itself.
